The Learning Experience:

Lessons are structured to enable experience to be gained on different types of roads, in a variety of conditions, often travelling between towns and villages on country roads.  Lessons are planned to take place in different weather conditions, at night and also when the sun is low.

When consistency levels are high and driver errors are few, lessons are conducted around the test routes.  This enables particularly difficult areas to be identified and dealt with competently.

The stage is then reached when the learner driver is getting it right, all the time, without the instructor’s help.  This is when the learner is at the required standard to pass the driving test.

Mock testing is then conducted to simulate the driving test experience and when passed this is used to build confidence and self belief.  Written feedback is provided to assist the elimination of recurring driver errors. As a final check of readiness, mock testing is conducted by an Associate, an ex DSA examiner, as appropriate. This leads to a high possibility of passing the driving test at the first attempt, which is a step along the road to “safe driving for life”.

Candidates who combine professional instruction with private practise, are more successful on the driving test.  Where possible and when the basics are in place, parents, partners or friends are encouraged to sit in on the occasional lesson, with a view to harmonising the professional instruction with private practise.
